Beginner Basics

For whom is this course designed?
The course is designed for beginners and intermediate students who wish to improve their painting through an internet or home study program. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This study would be great for students who started "in the middle" and need to fill in a few gaps in learning. Perfect for the student who dabbles but needs direction.

Upon submission of completed work, students will receive a certificate of completion of the course.

What will be taught during the course?
The student will learn surface preparation, proper paint application, forms, blending, color mixing, glazing, shine shadows and more. Projects will include still life, floral and portrait. The student will receive complete written lessons (as a download).  If you have questions during the course, email and you will receive an answer usually within the day.

Is there a time limit?
There is no time limit but a new lesson will be introduced once you have sent the previous work into me for critique. How long it takes you is dependant on your skill levels. Life disruptions are unfortunately a fact of everyday living a I make allowances for my students to have these days, as I hope the same is returned in favor.

What supplies are necessary?
A complete list of surfaces and supplies can be sent upon request. You may use your own surfaces and brand/type of paints and pencils. If you are new to painting, consider using "Traditions" paints and mediums avaliable from Deco Art internet website or from your local decorative painting shop.

When does it begin?
New course will begins anytime as this is a self working course. Please note that you will be sent the first  lesson and supply list upon acceptance to the course. This gives you a chance to see what you'll need for the course while I deposit your cheque or money order.

Send me an email today at Justgottapaint.gmail.com to reserve your spot as space is limited. Cost of the course which includes painting  lessons and 14 drawing lessons is only $75.  Please note: there is a beginners, intermediate and advance set of lessons.

There is a beginners, intermediate and advance level for the course. These lessons will be sent one at a time as you progress through.

It is important to note that every painter should have drawing skills in order to fully appreciate the skills involved with painting. One just compliments the other, just as a piano player who practices scales does better than one who doesn't, the artist who learns to draw, does a better job of painting.
